A brand with a mission
Made in Mada was founded by Gaëlle & Dimitri, a couple with deep roots in Madagascar. They lived there for years and built a close relationship with the Malagasy community, based on respect, collaboration and a shared love of tradition.
Charmed by the unique raffia craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation, they decided to give this craft a stage. Not only to show its beauty, but also to give women in remote villages the opportunity for economic independence, without leaving their families.
The collection is made from natural raffia fibers, derived from palms growing in the tropical rainforest. These trees are responsibly felled to make room for young specimens, an approach that links sustainability and growth.

Raffia with a story
What makes this fiber so special? Raffia is strong, pliable, soft and completely biodegradable. It requires knowledge, precision and time to process. Production begins with harvesting the seeds, which are then peeled, dried and cleaned by hand. Each stage of this process is artisanal - with respect for tradition and nature.

Made in Mada works closely with local communities and supports the cultivation of raffia through its own initiatives. For example, more than 1,000 raffia trees have now been replanted in the Tsaranoro Valley - with the help of local people. A specially set up raffia-nursery project ensures young recruitment and future-proofing.
